Cookery School

Learn by experience! The Waring House recreational cooking classes are suitable for all levels of cooking expertise.  You are invited to expand your culinary repertoire, and learn new skills and chef techniques.

Each class features a particular culinary subject, food type, region, ingredient or theme.  Many of our classes feature fresh, local ingredients — some picked that day at farms just down the road from the cookery school, or from our own Waring House garden.

Thursday classes ($95 plus gratuities, plus taxes) feature a sit-down dinner and wine, while Sunday classes ($75 plus gratuities, plus taxes) focus on the lighter side, such as hors d’oeuvres or quick and easy meals. Coming from out of town? We have great cookery school packages that include accommodation and dining.

Cookery classes can be a great team building exercise or a way to spend some time with a group of friends, relatives or business associates. We offer private classes for groups of 6 or more. For information on booking a private cooking class for your group, email events@waringhouse.com

Thursday, September 13 2018 - Flatbreads and County Wine

Apple butter, roasted garlic, caramelized onion, cheddar, and cajun chicken paired with Huffs Riesling.  Marinara, italian sausage, mushroom, red pepper and arugula paired with Sandbanks Baco Noir.

Sunday, September 23 2018 - Skills Class - Risotto

There are many myths and legends about making proper risotto, but it does not need to be confusing or complicated.  This skills class will walk you through the base recipe for a classic risotto, and then finish it off with our seasonal produce and more.  This risotto will be a seared corn and tomato risotto with confit chicken and seasonal herbs.
