experience working in a wide variety of positions
in the food industry to her position as Director
of The Waring House Cookery School. A
long-time gourmet and food enthusiast, Chef
Andrea is convinced that a passion for cooking
is in her blood. Surrounded by people
who loved food, Andrea embarked on her culinary
career at the age of thirteen, working in
restaurants owned by her grandparents and,
throughout high school, assisting in her
mother’s catering business.
Chef Andrea attended the Chef’s Training Program at George Brown College in Toronto, graduating with honours, becoming a Dean’s award winner, as well as Taste of Canada gold medalist for Baking and Pastry Arts. Since then Andrea has made use of her impressive cooking and baking talents in numerous positions in the food industry. Later, she was able to apply this wealth of experience to her own successful dessert catering business and to her position as Pastry Chef at Claramount Inn & Spa.
Pursuing her interest in international cuisine, Chef Andrea traveled to Spain where she spent three months living in local home developing her knowledge of Spanish and Mediterranean cuisine. After that, Andrea spent seven months living in Thailand learning to prepare authentic Thai dishes. “The only time I spent away from the food industry was when I started my family,” recalls Andrea.
Chef Andrea’s interests in food and love of cooking are limitless. At her relaxed and entertaining hands-on classes students learn the secrets of creating mouth-watering dishes, focusing on top quality ingredients found locally and around the world.
